Video Conferencing

Video Conferencing enables two or more individuals in different locations to talk to and see each other. Video Conferencing sessions can also offer a medium for exchanging audio, image, video or any other type of digital file, enabling users to share computer applications and even work concurrently on a single file.

Video Conferencing – Montserrat

In relationship with the National Space Centre in Leicester, pupils from Copley High School together with pupils from Stalyhill Junior linked up a video conferencing session to rescue the island of Montserrat from impending doom from an incoming Hurricane and Volcanic eruption!

Path of the Hurricane!

This was led by Mr Smith (ICT), Mr Wearden (Science) from Copley High and Miss Waterson from Stalyhill. The pupils used many skills from a wide range of subjects including Maths and Geography and involved decision making skills. This also helped develop strong citizenship skills for the pupils, who working in teams developed confidence and worked independently.

The pupils worked on a range of tasks, tracking the Hurricane, monitoring the volcano, making evacuation decisions, communication skills and pupils were also involved in a media team which did photography, journalism and video imagery.

The pupils successfully evacuated the island and saved the lives of 8,000 people.

Well Done to all Copley High and Stalyhill Junior pupils!
