Physical Education

Our Dance Troop!

Copley's sporting facilities are located in Copley Recreation Centre which is adjacent the school.  Outdoor facilities are extensive and include two netball/five-a-side courts and a basketball court in the school playground. The school playing fields comprise of two football pitches, an artificial cricket wicket and an athletics track with two jumping pits and a cross country course. Our pupils also have access to the new Astroturf facility developed by the sports trust.  These six-a-side courts are superb, floodlit synthetic pitches. They are used for school football and hockey lessons, for lunchtime activities and for inter-school football and hockey competitions.

Our boys are keen sportsmen!

Pupils at Key Stage 3 are allocated two hours per week of Physical Education. Units of study include football, netball, basketball, hockey, badminton, tennis, orienteering, cricket, rounders, gymnastics, athletics and health related fitness. At Key Stage 4 one hour per week is devoted to a choice of activities listed previously plus squash, table tennis, trampoline and fitness training in the multi-gym.

Pupils study between three and six activities per year. Pupils may also study GCSE Physical Education as an option.

Cheerleading is a great sport!
