An Introduction from the Head Teacher

"I am delighted to have been appointed as the new Headteacher at Copley High School. Having worked here for two years I have seen the school take significant steps forward, this however is only the start of our journey. Oftsed inspected us last year and found a school in which 'senior leaders are bringing about improvement rapidly'. They rated the school as good in many aspects; care , guidance and support, the extent to which pupils feel safe, behaviour , the extent to which students adopt healthy lifestyles and students' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. We are working towards making Copley an Outstanding school. All stakeholders have an important part to play, especially the pupils. Our main focus is on developing learning and teaching, we have many outstanding practitioners amongst our staff and all are constantly developing their skills."

Ready for work - ready to learn.

Mr Jennings - Headteacher Designate - with two Year 11 pupils.

"The needs of all pupils are considered to ensure they make as much progress as possible as well as to develop confident, healthy individuals who have the skills to succeed in life beyond school. The disappointing news regarding the Building Schools for the Future programme, will not slow down our drive to improve and we will actively pursue other ways of funding modernisation of the building."

Mr M Jennings     Headteacher

Organisation of Copley High

Copley High School provides a secure, warm and friendly environment for our pupils.  The school has the advantage of being one large building with most classrooms on one level.  The school community takes great care of the building.  Most rooms are carpeted and we strive to maintain a high standard of care and cleanliness.  A high quality of display is a feature of the school, both in classrooms and corridors.

Statements of aims in school brochures can often be no more than fine-sounding words. The Copley aims, produced and developed by our staff, are meant to be practical and constructive. They are aims to be used. Our aims are referred to constantly in planning for the future.  They demonstrate our belief that a school should actively promote positive moral values in everything it does. The emphasis on the quality of everyday experiences at Copley is the necessary foundation for achievement - in public examinations and in the development of responsible and active young people.
